Daar is Moslems wat verkies om die Hadit te verwerp en slegs die Koran in ag te neem. Dit is omdat daar teenstrydige dinge in die Hadit voorkom of dinge wat Mohammed nie in ’n goeie lig stel nie. In What about Quran-Only Muslims? (David Wood) lig David Wood kortliks die probleem uit met hierdie benadering:
The Qur’an commands Muslims to submit to Muhammad’s decisions (Quran 4:65). Muhammad’s decisions are found in the Hadith, not in the Qur’an. So you can’t obey the Qu’ran without obeying Muhammad in the Hadith.
The Qur’an also declares that Muhammad is the pattern of conduct for Muslims (Qur’an 33:21). Muhammad’s conduct is recorded in the Hadith, not in the Qur’an.
Islam’s most basic practices come from the Hadith, not from the Qur’an. For instance, Muslims are required to recite the Shahada as the first “Pillar of Islam”. The Shahada is found in the Hadith, not in the Qur’an.
The second “Pillar of Islam” is praying five times per day. But the Qur’an only says to pray three times per day. Five daily prayers are found in the Hadith, not in the Qur’an.
All of this leaves you with an interesting dilemma. On the one hand, if you reject the Hadith, you have to reject Islam’s most basic practices, and you can’t even obey the Qur’an. On the other hand, if you accept the Hadith, you have to accept Muhammad’s teachings, which you clearly find revolting (e.g., drinking camel urine). Let met know what you decide.
