There are people who ask: If there is a god, which one should believe? If you are raised as a Christian, you will be a Christian and if you are raised as a Muslim, you will be a Muslim. But are there things that stand out from the Christian faith? I think so.

Christianity offers hope and moral values

Harry Ironside

An agnos once challenged dr Harry Ironside for a debate on agnosticism vs Christianity. Ironside said he will participate in the debate if the agnos could bring the following two people:

1. A man who was under the influence of bad habits that caused him a pathetic life and that changed in an instant after he became a agnos.

2. A woman without character, a rogue, had a poor self-image and hid for society. After she became a agnos, her life turned around, she rehabilitated and she won her way back to an honoured position in society.

Ironside promised to bring 100 such people to the debate that changed their lives after they became Christians.

The agnos decided to take no further part in the debate.

Abolition of slavery

Christian values were primarily responsible for the abolition of slavery.

Non-Christian nations kill much easier than Christian Nations.

It is true that there have been murders committed in the name of Christianity, but the Bible teaches against it. These murders were committed from their evil ways and is trying to justify if from the Bible.

Atheists’s recognition of Christianity

There are even atheists who recognize that Christianity is an asset to society. Richard Dawkins (very famous British atheist and author of The God Delusion), for instance, said: “There are no Christians, as far as I know, blowing up buildings. I am not aware of any Christian suicide bombers. I am not aware of any major Christian denomination dat believes the penalty for apostasy is death. I have mixed feelings about the Decline of Christianity in so far as Christianity might be a bulwark against something worse. ”

Muslim

What does the Koran say about tolerance towards other faiths:

“But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem of war; but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practice regular charity, then open the way for them: For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful” (Surah 9:5).

“Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Apostle, nor acknowledge the Religion of Truth, even if they are of the People of the Book,9 until they pay the Jizya10 with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued” (Surah 9:29).

“Remember thy Lord inspired the angels with the message: “I am with you: Give firmness to the Believers: I will instill terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: Smite ye above their necks and smite all their fingertips off them”” (Surah 8:12).

“O ye who believe! Fight the Unbelievers who gird you about, and let them find firmness in you: And know that Allah is with those who fear Him” (Surah 9:123).

Compare that with what the Bible teaches:

“You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39).

Furthermore, the Quran contradicts the creation account:

  • The Qur’an makes God responsible for death and suffering while the Bible says that man, Adam and Eve brought death and suffering in the world. (See Death and Suffering Questions and Answers)
  • The Qur’an’s account of the flood is much less complete than the Biblical record.

It seems that the prophet Mohammed allowed first cousin marriages. This is leading to serious genetic disorders under Muslems today (see 1400 year of inbreeding). If Mohammed did not foresee this, then is it good indication that he was a false prophet.

Hinduïsm

There are many people who come over to Christianity

The growth rate from Noah to now is 0.5% and growth rate for Jews from Jacob to the Jewish haulocaust is 0.45% which is very similar to the current world population growth rate of 1.7%. This is very different of the growth rate of the evolution model which is a mere 0.002%! See:

  • Our calendar year begins with the birth of Christ
  • Christianity is the largest religion in the world.
  • The Bible is the best selling of all books.
  • The Bible is the book that is available in most languages worldwide.
  • There have been several Jesus movies and thousands of TV and radio programs about Jesus and the Christian religion (as opposed to other religions).
  • A large amount of classical music bring glory to God.
  • There are more spiritual songs, gospel singers and songwriters than in any other religion.
  • Basic human rights comes from the Bible. In the Bible it is called charity and the emphasis is placed to serve your neighbor and be polite to them – it is not about claiming your rights.
  • Hollywood and the media can not tolerate Christianity, but does not seem to have any problem with other faiths.
  • No other God’s name is used in vain such as Jesus Christ’s name.
  • Christianity is the only religion where God came down to the level of people (to be born), died and rose. In no other religion is there such love for God’s children. Therefore one cannot earn his salvation. What God did was too big to be earned.
  • It is the faith where love for God and your neighbor the most emphasized.
  • This is the faith which emphasized that you can only be saved by God, Jesus Christ and that God is a jealous God. It makes a lot of sense when one considers that there is only one God who created the heavens and the earth. Surely the true God will not tolerate other false gods.

What about bad things done by the church?

It is true that the church have make horrible mistakes in the past and that there were people doing wrong things in the name of Christianity.
